Joel Kim Booster Exclusive Interview

The Qu is proud to present Joel Kim Booster, one of the winners of OutLoud Chicago’s Queer Comedy contest at Zanies in May!

A recent graduate of Millikin University, Joel just arrived in Chicago and plans on making his mark on the Theatre scene, assisting more Artistic Directors, and appearing on more websites. He is a proud ensemble member of The Hollow Tree Theatre, where he wrote “Scenes of a Love Like Nature” which was produced as a part of the Chicago Fringe Festival. They don’t have a website for him to be featured on yet, so he kind of favors The New Colony at this point. He doesn’t have very many big boy credits under his belt yet, but he’s confident that he has plenty of time to make his bio just as cool as all the other jerks around here. In the absence of any fancy credits, he’ll simply use the rest of this space to list off things he likes: Comic books, kittens, boxed wine, public transportation, spicy food, The Gilmore Girls, Apple products, Anderson Cooper, The Cubs, Red Bull, the internet, podcasts, light layers, UFC, salt and pepper shakers that hug, Hipster mustaches, mood lighting, and email–CC him!

Be sure to check him out June 19th at Zanies for the next queer comedy brought to you by OUTLOUD CHICAGO! Check out the exclusive interview below!

Queer Comedy at Zanies: PRIDE

OutLoud Chicago, The L Stop and The Qu present Queer Comedy at Zanies: PRIDE Tuesday June 19th at 7:30pm at Zanies Comedy Club 1548 N Wells.

The critically acclaimed Queer Comedy at Zanie’s Season 2 continues featuring dual headliners Candy Lawrence (Chicago Women’s Funny Festival, TBS Just for Laughs,) Matteo Lane (Laugh Track at Sidetrack,) Host Adam Guerino (The Sarcastic Squad,) and the winners of the Queer Comedy (Contest) at Zanies season 2: Rhea Butcher (Cole’s Open Mic, Kind of Blue) Lisa Laureta (The Laugh Factory, Chicago Underground Comedy) and Joel Kim Booster (New Colony Theater, Zanies.)

Queer Comedy at Zanies has been featured in Timeout Chicago, The Redeye, Metromix and Gaper’s Block, and showcases the best queer and straight comedians of the country who have appeared on Comedy Central, BET, TBS Just For Laughs and Last Comic Standing. Each show has continued to show that no matter if the comedians or audience members are queer or straight, laughter knows no sexuality.

OutLoud Chicago is a series created by Adam Guerino to bring queer entertainment to mainstream Chicago venues. The Qu.co’s mission is to create a multi-media website for queer artists to showcase their work to an audience of like minded people; where their sexuality informs the conversation instead of restricting it. TheLStop.org is your one-stop shop for everything lesbian in Chicago.
